Fontlake is a font manager that runs entirely on your computer. No login, no cloud. Your fonts are encrypted when you import them and only get loaded into your system when you actually need them, which cuts down the risk of your apps crashing because too many fonts are loaded at once.

Why Fontlake?

Free and kept up to date

Fontlake is made by TwinType Foundry LLC. It's completely free and we're still actively working on it. Whenever there's a new version, the built-in updater will check for it automatically.

Fully local

There's nothing to sign up for and no need to log in. Your fonts are stored encrypted on your own device and nowhere else, so you don't have to worry about them ending up where they shouldn't.

Encrypted storage

As soon as you import a font, Fontlake encrypts it before saving it to your drive. The stored files won't open on any device that can't decrypt them, so your fonts stay safe. That's a big deal for commercial fonts you've paid good money for.

Collections

Sort your fonts by project, client or purpose, then switch on the right set for whatever job you're working on. Keeping on top of your fonts gets a whole lot easier.

Toggle individual styles

A single font family can have dozens of styles. Fontlake lets you turn on only the ones you need rather than the whole lot, so your other apps have far fewer fonts to load.

Cross-platform

Fontlake runs on both Windows and macOS, so you can use whichever suits you. We don't support Linux just yet, though, because of some system API issues.

  • Fontlake encrypts every font the moment you import it, before it is written to your drive. The stored files won't open on any device that can't decrypt them, so a commercial font you've paid good money for can't simply be copied out of the folder and passed around.
